Fit For A King Sell Out Bogart’s And Deliver A Unforgettable Night In Cincinnati
One of my favorite witty lyrics of all time comes from the song Imposter by Fit For A King, “A liar in heaven makes an angel in hell.” For the last six years, I’ve cranked my car stereo up a little louder everytime I hear that verse come on. Getting to see Fit For A King was a bucket list item for me and what was even better was getting to photograph a sold-out show.
The band is currently on their “The Lonley God Tour” with artists 156/Silence, Spite, and Make Them Suffer. 156/Silence was first on the bill and was probably my most anticipated set besides Fit For A King. And boy was I not disappointed. 156/Silence’s breakdowns and screams had me rocking back and forth in the photo pit vibing along. A few dedicated fans were at barricade and had the time of their lives screaming along to their hearts content as 156/Silence played their set. With every member headbanging and vibing together on stage, their performance was fun and a great gateway into the rest of the night.
After 156/Silence came Spite. If I was taken aback by 156/Silence’s performance, Spite blew me out of the pit. I say this as a term of endearment, the vocals were absolutely disgusting. You could feel the screams in your body as they reverberated through the crowd and through the floor shaking the building quite literally. Their vocalist, Darius Tehrani, gave it his all with the hair flips and headbangs that made for some epic shots. This was a band that to me, really embodied the vibes of what people think of when they hear metal. Dark and grungey but with kick-ass riffs and killer breakdowns. And although they give off scary vibes, when I talked to Darius he was super chill. From start to end I thoroughly enjoyed their set and it had me fired up for the next band.
Make Them Suffer. Sounds like your typical metalcore band name but they were anything but. The five piece band from Australia came onto stage with energy and excitement. What I wasn’t expecting was the jaw-dropping female vocals mixed into the breakdowns which genuinely had me stunned from back of house. They unfortunately had to cut their set short due to some illness in the band but the songs we did get were phenomenal.
The last hurrah for the night was Fit For A King. And man did the crowd go crazy. Jumping, screaming, crowd surfing, moshing. The whole nine yards. And this band absolutely deserved it. Ryan Kirby’s vocals sound even better live and gave fans a truly unforgettable night. With songs for both new and old fans, the setlist was perfectly balanced.
Seeing them live was so much fun. The fans and the friends I made at the show will forever live in my heart. The show officially kicked me back into my metalcore phase so if you need me, I’ll be listening to Fit For A King on repeat.
