Very Cool, Very Fun, Very Sexy Bands: WILLIS and Hotel Fiction in Orlando!

On the last leg of their Real Vacation Tour, WILLIS stops by with Hotel Fiction at the venue Celine in Downtown Orlando! WILLIS is best known for their viral hit “I Think I Like When It Rains” but is much more than the viral hit. On a chill breezy Tuesday night everyone who attended warmed up to the chill smooth tracks from WILLIS along with the upbeat energy of Hotel Fiction.

Hotel Fiction originated in Athens, GA with Jade Long (Vocals and Keys) and Jessica Thompson (Vocals and Lead Guitar) as a duo but then soon expanded later on with the addition of Aaron Daugherty (Lead Guitar and Synth), Aidan Hill (Bass), and Gideon Johnston (Drums). They have an Indie Rock sound which is enhanced while  performing live with high energy from all band members and talented vocals from Jade. Hotel Fiction is a great band with high energy and much more to see when live than just simply through your phone.

Willis consists of five members Murphy Billings (Bass and Vocals), Glenn O'Steen (Drums), Will O'Steen (Synths and Keys), Edward Armstead (Guitar), and Trey Murphy (Guitar). The band and even their photographer originated as highschool friends out of Florence, AL but now reside out of Nashville, TN. Their sound throughout the whole concert was more on the melo side, seeing that they fall under a Psychedelic-Indie type of sound. So although the crowd was excited to see the band, there wasn’t too much screaming or jumping around going on, just people watching in awe and couples holding onto each other.

Orlando was a part of the last leg of their Real Vacation and this was their third visit expecting hot and humid weather but instead received a chilly cold night. Their descriptions betweens songs were pretty comical describing songs as “Feeling like they’re Cowboys” or “Fighting Hulk Hogan” and ending off with Murphy describing the crowd as “Very cool, Very fun, Very Sexy”.

Having attended the concert without any real prior knowledge or listening of either band, I came out happy that I attended. I am now a fan of both, curious to see what will come next of both WILLIS and Hotel Fiction. So if either find their way to your city, an open mind is all it takes to walk away as a fan!
