Missio gave Columbus a warm and thrilling awakening with the duo’s “I Am Cinco” North American tour. Playing hits from across all albums, bringing together fans of old and new for a captivating night of electronic pop and killer dance moves. Matthew Brue and David Butler, proved they not only make music, but can create a unique atmosphere and show the Columbus music scene they know how to throw their “Middle Fingers” high and have a party.

The musical duo’s tour started long before they ever set foot on stage, sending out a message to fans with a link asking for our help picking the setlist for this tour. Giving long-time fans like myself a chance to hear their favorite hits from older albums.

After that, the days flew by waiting until the tour began. The band brought along up and coming alt rock artist Layto who brought a lot of relatable lyrics and energetic beats to the tour. Layto gave his all and it showed. Running back and forth across the stage and interacting with fans at both ends. I lost track of how many times he ran back and fourth. After his exhilarating set, Missio was up next and they did not disappoint.

Having listened to their music for several years, I was curious to see how they would perform. The duo delivered high energy and synthetic beats with a little bit of other influences all night. And they played some of my favorite songs like, “Deep Blue Sea”, “Everybody Gets High”, and even the deep cuts like, “I See You” and “Sing To Me”.

There’s a common trend I’ve been seeing lately in the concert scene that Missio was no exception to. That is having a brief moment where they share hardships or personal struggles and remind everybody that concerts are a safe space. They are a space to heal, to scream and shout, cry for the first time in years, or to simply have a good night. The safe space that Missio helped create that night was one of therapeutic release. Especially with my favorite portion of the night, a stripped rendition of “Can You Feel The Sun”. Which was performed beautifully and made the whole room tear up.

Missio put on one of the most energetic and interesting shows I’ve seen in a while. The energy they bring to the stage is unmatched in its chaos and good vibes. With only a handful of stops left on their tour, I highly urge you to go to a show. Even if you’re unfamiliar with their music, the crowd interaction and vibes are fantastic all around. I’m excited to see what the band has next in store and I hope to see them in Columbus again soon.
