K-pop group P1Harmony releases their first English mini album, EX, on Friday, September 26, 2025.

P1Harmony is a 6-member, Korean group consisting of KEEHO, THEO, JIUNG, INTAK, SOUL, and JONGSEOB. Since debuting in 2020, they have released eight mini albums, one full length album, and now, their first English mini album EX. The group has built a strong global presence  blending different genres such as reggaeton, hip-hop, etc into their discography, appealing to a wide international audience.

The title track “EX,” it’s an earworm you can’t get out of your head. The group starts the song with the chorus, drawing the listeners in. With its elements of electronic pop and autotuned vocals, the track is reminiscent of Charlie XCX’s Brat album. Rather than being a club banger, “EX” feels more suited  for casual, everyday listening. The repetitive chorus makes it ideal for a title track, especially for introducing new listeners to P1Harmony

“Dancing Queen” shifts gears from the electronic start of the album to a pop punk/ pop rock sound that would be heard in the early 2000’s. Listening to the song in headphones, audiences can really appreciate the production, the muted guitar strumming on the left side with the bass on the right. With the claps in the chorus, it’s a great song to end the concert or to close the summer season.

From electric guitar to RnB, “Stupid Brain” slows things down and emphasizes the group’s vocals. With a relaxed tempo and soft strings, it’s a nice breather from the energetic first two tracks, “EX” and “Dancing Queen.” This is the kind of song you could get lost in without realizing 4 minutes has passed.

“Night of My Life” gives a nod to 2010’s style music, similar to the kinds of music Big Time Rush and One Direction might have released at their peak. The build up in the pre-chorus leads to an infectious chorus that makes you want to jump and sing along. It’s the kind of track that would thrive in a live setting, fans dancing and singing would only amplify the experience.

When K-pop artists release Spanish versions of their title tracks, I am often hesitant. The lyrics aren’t always written originally in Spanish, which can affect flow and delivery. Unfortunately, “EX (Spanish Version)” falls into this pattern. It aims to keep the meaning and reach Spanish speaking listeners, the lyrics don’t quite flow as naturally in translation.

Overall, EX is a solid listen and exciting step for P1Harmony as they begin to release more English music. Each track feels strong on its own, but the album lacks cohesion. It’s the kind of album that works better shuffled into a playlist rather than played straight through. Still, many of these songs are made to be heard live, where their energy would truly shine.
