The atmosphere at Rock City in Nottingham was buzzing as the night kicked off with a quirky performance by Dirt Box Disco

Dirt Box Disco had the challenge of warming the crowd up for the next 2 bands which isn’t an easy ask when the venue has just started filling up. They did a great job – their musical humour was sharp witty, and very tongue in cheek —just the right amount of Rude for the audience it seemed.

The band’s infectious energy and bold fashion choices set the tone for what was to come, and they certainly earned their place on the stage tonight. Dirt Box Disco’s drummer, name here, did a fantastic job, despite not being able to see through his big clown wig he didn’t miss a beat.

As the Jim Jones All Stars band took to the stage, (all 8 of them) you could feel the anticipation in the audience as to what we were about to hear, and it didn’t disappoint. They had percussion and brass, but what was remarkable was how the 2 saxophone players could dance about as much and keep to the music, let alone breathe!

Jim introduced the band throughout the set and pointed out that the regular drummer couldn’t make it, but they really didn’t want to cancel so thanked him profusely. He went on to say how amazing Rock City was and that it was awesome as they had never played on the main stage, only the rescue rooms.

When The Wildhearts took to the stage, it was clear they had a great following in the crowd, as the venue was buzzing with excitement. The crowd’s energy didn’t let up for a second, clapping along from start to finish.

Front man Ginger proudly reminded the audience many times about their new album – Satanic Rites of the Wildhearts, in which this tour is accompanying its release.

Throughout the set there was an abundance of pyrotechnics and the lighting. These additions really amplified the energy of the band on stage. During the crowd pleasing encore song my baby is a headf*** the crowd were treated with more pryo. There wasnt a single person in the audience at this point without their arms in the air, everyone was having a great time.

The Wildhearts delivered exactly what the crowd had been hoping for—thundering riffs, and a great performance that blew the roof off. The atmosphere between the band members and the crowd was very playful and fun, a Wild night indeed!
