Ellie Dixon (she/they) is a multi-disciplinary artist and producer creating witty, magnetic alt-pop with a unique style. On the 31st of March Ellie announced “the Night Club tour”. With her new EP Tales of a Night being released on the 12th of June has a lot of new things to share.
Today we are reviewing the show at Tolhuistuin Amsterdam for the Night Club Tour.
A few of their dedicated fans were already waiting outside about three hours before the show started, hunting for the best spot in front of the stage. Of course, they were dressed for the occasion.
The opening of the show was dramatic with Ellie coming on stage holding a sword which she used to knight a fan during the song Renaissance which contributed to the story of the song.
During the show Ellie tells a lot of anecdotes and stories about the songs, which did make it a lot more personal. She also showed how she is harmony layering with her voice to make the song and used the song “Dancing Queen” from ABBA to do that.
After playing a lot of energetic songs Dixon showed that we all need to take a breather so that is what Ellie made us do right before performing the song “Dopamine”.
Besides the interaction with the fans, the drum-off with the drummer Harry was very fun to see and the join in from Phoebe Hall (the support act) on the stage for a cover of the song “Hurting My Feelings” was also a great one.
A bit at the end of the show thanking her team could not be missed and the support act too was an amazing experience. So good that Ellie told she will hunt you down if you're not going to listen to their music.
The interaction between Ellie and their fans was great throughout the whole show.
During the last song "Bounce" Ellie even bounced in-between the crowd, getting everyone to dance along. After that the show came to an end.
After seeing Ellie Dixon perform in Amsterdam, we can honestly say that Ellie is a fun and energetic person to see live. The show had a mixture of their new and older music. Even though the show wasn’t fully sold out, it still was a party with all ages singing and dancing along to the music. It is a must see, or better said, must listen experience if you have the chance.
