“I don’t know if there’s a heaven or hell, but I know there’s a Long F—n’ Island!” Andy Frasco shouted to the Long Island crowd on an August Friday night. Andy Frasco & the U.N. are well into their Growing Pains 2025 Tour and their stop at Mulcahy’s was another unforgettable night for new and longtime fans.
Getting the night started was an incredibly unique performance from the Saxsquatch. A towering presence that takes over the stage upon his arrival, Saxsquatch is also known as Dean Mitchell, a multi-instrumentalist with a focus on saxophone. He gained a mass of followers online for his electric sax/techno covers of popular songs, but has a quickly growing library of original songs as well that are soon to be hits. Kicking off his set and setting the tone with a dancey “Careless Whisper”, his lightshow lit up the dancefloor for “Get Lucky”, and his deep booming voice belted out a memorable “Hot to Go.” Saxsquatch is not just a legend and a myth, but he is an excellent musician that you don’t have to search out in the woods for.
Andy Frasco & the U.N. is a blues rock band that has been active since 2007 with ten studio albums out to date, the newest, Growing Pains, provides the name of the current tour. However to call an Andy Frasco show a “blues rock show” wouldn’t even begin to convey the events that take place in a night he curates. By the third song of the show Andy was up on his keyboard which then raised to elevate him higher, activating the smoke machine within, and had the entire audience crouching down to burst up into an explosion of dance. Andy’s shows are well known amongst his fans as unique experiences that are designed to bring people together. At many points of the night Andy was down in the crowd himself getting the people stirred up, one notable moment had him command the audience to form a circle around him and he shouted directions to spin in and the band played Hava Nagila. If you’re looking for a night of uplifting and unifying music, you would not want to miss an Andy Frasco & the U.N. performance.
