If you’re unfamiliar with the events going on in Columbus, you might have been left a little confused this past Tuesday as hundreds of fans gathered around A&R Music Bar, dripped out head to toe in Twilight merch. Yes, that’s correct. The hit romance vampire movie was everywhere as far as the eye could see and has become quite the token film for the indie-pop alternative R&B artist Julia Wolf. Her most popular song, “In My Room”, has become synonymous with the famous film franchise on TikTok for being the backing track to the most gut-wrenching edits I’ve ever seen.

So you can imagine my delight and excitement when she dropped her new album, Pressure, and is touring around the country with it. Her image and sound are beautifully reminiscent of early 2000s alternative grunge with deep emotional vocals that remind me of Hayley Williams of Paramore. With all of this combined, I knew this was going to be a show to see, and Julia did not disappoint. Bringing along with her artists, Ellis and Worry Club, she gave A&R Music Bar a night it won’t soon forget.

Much to my disappointment, due to some technical issues, I was not able to see Ellis perform. However, I talked to some fans after her set, and they had nothing but glowing reviews for the artist. One fan described her as an ethereal rock queen, which I thought was pretty hardcore.
Following her set, I managed to catch Worry Club right as they started. The first thing I noticed was that their lead singer, Chase’s guitar, had a transgender support sticker on the front, and I knew they were going to be perfect. With explosive energy, they got Columbus shaking and headbanging along to every song. At one point, Chase lost his hat because he was jumping around so hard. I couldn’t help but giggle and headbang along as I got lost in the riffs.

With the crowd warmed up and ready, Julia Wolf was next, and the crowd went wild. One fan almost immediately gave her a Twilight-themed lighter, which set the perfect tone for the rest of her set. Throwing in classics from the early days as well as plenty of songs off her new record, the fans got an ultimate experience of her music. I had an absolute blast getting lost in the sea of fans singing their hearts out. If you’re looking to relive the feeling of concerts in the late 2000s or feeling the urge to bust out your Twilight merch, I would highly recommend catching one of the remaining stops on her tour.
