As I stepped into ACL Live at The Moody Theater, the room already carried that calm, pre-show energy. It wasn’t loud or chaotic, just a quiet focus like everyone was there for something that mattered. The cool spring air outside matched the mellow vibe inside.
Emily Elbert set the tone with a soulful, intimate performance. She’s usually on tour with Leon Bridges, but tonight it was just her and a guitar. Her voice was smooth and easy, pulling the room in without effort. Later, she joined Amos Lee’s band, adding guitar and harmonies that fit right in.
Amos Lee eased into a set that mixed longtime favorites like “Colors” and “Windows Are Rolled Down” with new songs from Transmissions. Between songs, he shared stories from his journey, including a moment of genuine admiration for Willie Nelson that landed perfectly with the Austin crowd.
The music filled the room, but every lyric still felt close. It was the kind of night that moved with a steady, honest flow from start to finish.
