A Monday night at the o2 academy in Leicester featuring Electric Six alongside the support act Enjoyablelistens was a fun experience, despite the unexpected change in support act last minute as the original support, Vanity Fairy, cancelled at midday. Enjoyablelistens came up from Oxford and charmed the audience with his natural comedic flair and engaging storytelling.

Enjoyablelistens took to the stage with a exuberant energy, telling jokes in between his songs, he had the audience laughing and fully engaged. It’s impressive to see an artist juggle both music and comedy so effectively, and he certainly was welcomed by the crowd who thoroughly enjoyed him.

When Electric Six finally took the stage a little later. The atmosphere was vibrant and The band was greeted with roaring cheers before launching into their first song. Band leader Dick Valentine immediately showcased his charismatic presence by introducing each song with a playful commentary numbering them as he went along. The banter he had with the crowd got many laughs especially when he touched on the pronunciation of ‘Loughborough’ and shared a story about pumping gas there.

Valentine’s appreciation for the crowd’s commitment to come out on a Monday night was described as an emotional investment by all and jokes that he appreciated it that much they would add an extra song to the set.
When they hit the iconic “Gay Bar,” the crowd erupted with enthusiasm. The band cleverly played the song in two parts, adding an unexpected twist that thrilled everyone as they started it again for the second time. Dick’s playful antics, like swinging his jacket around his head, added to the already electrifying atmosphere, making it a genuinely fun experience. The highlight of the night came when Electric Six performed “Danger!”, which sent the crowd into a frenzy. The energy in the venue was ‘electric’ with everyone dancing and singing along, a testament to the band’s ability to create such a connection with their audience.

The concert was a great evening for all. I Thoroughly enjoyed the talent of both Enjoyablelistens and Electric Six. Their ability to engage and entertain turned what could have been a disappointing evening into an exciting night filled with laughter and music.
If their performance last night is anything to go by then I would thoroughly enjoy seeing them live again.
